このクラスで学べること
In this lesson, students will be exploring some fun, quirky and typical British manners, learning about the brief history behind them, what they mean or represent, and whether they are still in use today. We will discuss how they may have adapted over time to represent modern living. I will be sharing my own personal, lived experiences of manners from the perspective of life as a British Citizen, reflecting on growing up as a child, as a parent and as a school teacher. This class will involve lots of discussions, interaction and roleplay - and above all fun! Its aim is to be light-hearted, (with plenty of giggles), but at the same time informative, giving the students a little insight into British customs or etiquette (in relation to good/bad manners). Students are encouraged to ask questions and share their own thoughts and experiences in an inclusive, non-judgemental and respectful way. The lesson will be structured as follows: 1.introductions/class rules and expectations 2. Diving into the history with fun facts, examples and exploring meanings (slides and discussion) 3. Quick Q & A session based on what we’ve covered so far 4. Let’s get our British on! - Roleplay/mimes/games (students can use a few everyday items as props or just their imagination!) 5. What would you do if…? (Scenario type questions to consider, to develop critical thinking) 6. Ask the teacher - an opportunity to quiz me on my British manners 7. Reflections/Reviews/Farewells - ending with a traditional British phrase

Hi and welcome! My name is Paula, aka: 'The Tutorly Owl' and I'm really pleased you've stopped by.
I’m a qualified UK Primary School Teacher of nearly twenty years, and I teach a broad range of subjects. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, with an English Specialism and graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Warwick. In 2021, I also completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course am I am now a certified ESL teacher. I’m a great believer in lifelong learning so I’m always looking for my next personal challenge!
With a true passion for teaching and learning, I’m really excited to bring my enthusiasm, favourite lessons and personal teaching style to the Outschool platform.
So what are my absolute favourites?
Well, in a nutshell, anything that involves drawing on my creativity!
* Writing: stories, poetry, play scripts, posters, presentations or anything else imaginative!
* Arts and Crafts: card-making, 3D papercraft projects, drawing, painting, working with clay
I believe that learning should be student-focused, interactive and above all fun. I aim to tailor my lessons to my students’ needs, adapting the content and approach for the best possible outcomes. I am always open and willing to listen to, and respond to lesson requests. In fact, students are the best source of inspiration and are full of amazing ideas. If you have something in mind, let me know, and I will try to work my magic and create it for you.
You might have already guessed it, but I absolutely love owls! They’re probably going to make a sneaky appearance in some classes, so watch out for them! My mum loves owls too! As part of my small little business, I designed and made my own owl clocks range – so cute!
When I’m not teaching, I like to relax and enjoy time with my family. I often spend whole days working with my sister on new craft techniques and ideas. I can get extremely messy!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page today! I hope to see your learner in the classroom.
Best wishes,
Paula (The Tutorly Owl)
