このクラスで学べること
Each week students will make a bread popular to a specific country, and also learn about the country of origin for that bread. Week One - Tortillas from Mexico Week Two - Scones from Scotland Week Three - Crepes from France Week Four - Pretzels from Germany Students will measure and mix ingredients to make a batter or dough. I will provide cooking tips, thorough step by step instruction, and cook alongside learners. I have found these steps to be helpful in ensuring that every learner is successful and pleased with their final bread. There will also be opportunity for learners to express their creativity, such as how they fill or fold their crepes, or what shape they decide to make for their pretzels! While dough is resting or bread is baking, students will learn about the country associated with each bread through discussion, pictures, and trivia. For each country, I will present a 5-10 min slide presentation sharing the location, flag, language spoken, and capital of the specific country. Then, we'll discuss a few fun facts and trivia questions about each country. For example, why does the Mexican coat of arms have an eagle, a cactus, and a snake? Do you know which bread was created by accident? What is the Loch Ness monster? Before the 1930s when pretzels were made by hand, how many pretzels could a pretzel maker twist in a minute? This is meant to be a fun and engaging way to add a little history to the class and keep learners patiently occupied while bread is baking or dough is resting!! I will also try to remind and encourage learners to spend just a little time cleaning up their dishes and workspace so they don't leave a big mess for mom and dad to clean up after class!! ***This class MUST have the 3 learner minimum to remain scheduled! It would be a fun class to do with friends or neighbors!

Parents need to be available to help and monitor students according to their students ability. We will be using a griddle, skillet, or oven for cooking or baking, so parents need to assist students as necessary. Parents also need to be aware of ingredients and mindful of any potential allergens.

教師の専門知識と資格
I have a Generalist teacher certification for grades 4-8 from the state of Texas, as well as a science certification for grades 4-8, also from the state of Texas. I spent 5 years teaching science in a public school, and have spent the past 5 years teaching language arts, science, math, history, and geography in a private setting.
Not only have I hosted week long cooking camps in my home using these recipes, but my own kids love to make these breads. My 11 and 9 year old are now able to make each one without my assistance! I have also taught all of these classes to many learners through Outschool over the past few months.
