This Book Club is dedicated to reading Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express". We will be meeting for 45 minutes once a week for 9 weeks. Let's board the Orient Express in Istanbul, Turkey and solve a murder with the legendary Hercule Poirot. If your student loves beautifully crafted mysteries, you are in the right place. Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie We will be reading Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" during the 9-week, 45 minute/session class. As we read, students will also be learning effective questioning and discussion skills. Using a Reading Response Journal, students will learn and perfect strong reading and discussion skills that they will use again and again throughout their lives. As we read, we will be looking at the differing points of view as we engage with Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery. The beauty of this is that students will be immersed in a fantastic, engaging story while they do it! We will also look at the art created for the text and discuss how it affects our reading and understanding of the novel. The chapters in this awesome book are thought provoking and engaging; so the story moves quickly. Students will use the weekly reading guide to record their thoughts as they engage with the novel. Below is the reading schedule for the class. Week 1 - The Facts: Chapters 1-4 Week 2 - The Facts: Chapters 5-8 Week 3 - The Evidence: Chapters 1-4 Week 4 - The Evidence: Chapters 5-8 Week 5 - The Evidence: Chapters 9-12 Week 6 - The Evidence: Chapters 13-15 Week 7 - Hercule Poirot Sits Back and Thinks: Chapters 1-3 Week 8 - Hercule Poirot Sits Back and Thinks: Chapters 4-6 Week 9 - Hercule Poirot Sits Back and Thinks: Chapters 7-9
