Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo is a touching and relatable story about friendship, hope, strength, and courage. This three-book series will quickly draw your child in and be one they won't want to put down.

**There are two books that come after this one: "Louisiana's Way Home" and "Beverly, Right Here.

I will help learners dive a little deeper into our story during our sessions by leading them through discussions and activities related to the chapters read. Learners will also have the opportunity to share their responses from the assigned activity.

Learners will be asked to read about 10 chapters (don’t worry the chapters are short page-turners!) before each class and complete the assigned activity that will be posted in the classroom after our first meeting.

This book club is a great opportunity for your child to sharpen their reading comprehension skills, gain insight from others’ perspectives, and have a fun time reading an unforgettable story.

Class is appropriate for (𝐂𝐄𝐅𝐑: B1, B2, C1, C2)

This story does deal with sadness, grief, and unkindness. All three characters are dealing with some sort of loss. Raymie just found out that her father has left her and her mother, Louisiana is under the care of her grandmother since her parents have passed, and they are dealing with issues of poverty, and Beverly, whose father is also not around, suffers from implied verbal and emotional abuse at the hand of her mother. While each character in this story is experiencing some hardship (abandonment, food insecurity, and abuse), It is a story that is full of hope. Language: stupid and heck are both used several times.

Kate DiCamillo is one of my favorite authors. When I taught in the classroom, I always used Kate DiCamillo’s books to read aloud to my students because she does a great job of helping readers to learn important life lessons and think deeply. I also have a Masters in Reading, and it is my goal to help your child think deeper about the texts that they read. It would be my pleasure to share this amazing reading adventure with your child.
