"SIRIUS BLACK STILL AT LARGE." The notorious wizard criminal and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named supporter, Sirius Black, has escaped from Azkaban! Danger is afoot for Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, as rumor has it that Black may be headed for Hogwarts! Join Harry and his friends as they head back to Hogwarts for their third year at the magical school. Follow their adventures as they work to find out the truth about Sirius Black and what he wants with Harry Potter. 

For each class meeting, learners will read 3-4 chapters of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. They will also complete three writing assignments in which they will rewrite different chapters from the perspective of other characters. During each meeting, learners will discuss the chapters they read for the meeting and, when they are due, share the stories they wrote. Each learner should come to each class meeting prepared to discuss the reading and share their writing assignments when they are due. My goal as a teacher is to be a guide. I will facilitate discussions and encourage students to both give voice to their thoughts and be kind to others as they voice their own. Each lesson will be highly interactive. Students should be prepared to participate in discussions during each meeting. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this class. Students only need to bring a love for reading and discussion!
