Class will be structured in a group setting where students may interact with the teacher and his or her classmates through discussions and demonstrating their knowledge as the weeks progress. I will teach through presentation, demonstration, and through having students create hands-on examples. Students should having fine motor ability to trace lines and manipulate small dot stickers, as well as communication skills to read examples, ask for clarification, and present his or her own ideas. The weeks will be outlined as such:
Week 1:
-Introductions
-A brief history of braille
-Tools used by braille readers and writers
-Homework: research a person with a visual impairment and come back ready to share a fun fact (a choice of people will be provided)

Week 2: 
-Introduction to the braille cell
-How to make a space
-Introduction to the letters: a, b, c, d, e
-Homework: create a list of provided words in braille using graph paper and stickers

Week 3:
-Short review and share homework
-Reading words containing the letters: a, b, c, d, e
-Introduction to the letters: f, g, h, i, j
-Simple words containing the letters: a through j
-Homework: create a list of provided words in braille using graph paper and stickers

Week 4:
-Short review and share homework
-Reading words contain the letters: a through j
-Introduction to the letters: k, l, m, n, o
-Simple words containing the letters: a through o
-Homework: create a list of provided words in braille using graph paper and stickers

Week 5: 
-Short review and share homework
-Reading words containing the letters: a through o
-Introduction to the letters: p, q, r, s, t
-Simple words containing the letters: a through t
-Homework: create a list of provided words in braille using graph paper and stickers

Week 6:
