There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families continue to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the language in their brains. Some weeks additional activities will be posted for children to do outside of class. These are always optional but highly encouraged! Additionally, our teachers recognize that students work at different speeds. If there is ever a week that your child needs additional time during class to work on an assignment they are welcome to continue working after class and send any questions to the teacher or send a photo of the completed worksheet/project for the teacher to review.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Hola y Bienvenidos! Please note there is no class on Monday, April 29th, 2024 or Monday May 27th, 2024 (Memorial Day). 🌟 Who is this class for? 1) This course is for students who want to be able to talk about the activities they want and can do in the Spanish language using the verb "poder-can" and "querer-want". 2) Students joining this class should already have some knowledge of the Spanish language. This class is a great fit for Spanish students who are comfortable introducing themselves, familiar with Spanish pronouns (yo/tú/nosotros/vosotros) and are familiar with a variety of action verbs in their infinitive forms (correr/bailar/saltar/comer/beber/ir/dormir/leer/escribir/dibujar/jugar/). If your child already completed my "actions in progress" course then this is the next course for them! 3) Students who want to not only learn Spanish but also have fun! 4) Students who do well with small class sizes (6 students or less). ********* 🌟How is this class structured? 1) The first 3 weeks of class we will focus on the verb "poder-can" and its conjugations. 2) Week #4 we will do a full review of the verb "poder" and its conjugations. 3) Weeks #5-8 we will focus on the verb "querer" and its conjugations. 4) The final week of this course we will do a full review of the verb "querer" and it's conjugations. 5) This course is the third part of a three part series. After students complete this course they are welcome to continue learning with me in a small cohort of other students at their same level. ********* 🌟Full breakdown of course: Week #1: Introduction to the verb "poder-can". Students will learn how to conjugate (change) this verb to "puedo" when they are talking about what they can do and "puedes" when they are talking about what "you" can do. Students will learn a little song to help them remember these 2 conjugations and play a game of "two truths and one lie" to encourage them to speak in full sentences to talk about what they can do and what their classmates can do. Week #2: Students will learn how to conjugate the verb "poder-can" when talking about what a single person can do (la persona puede..." and when more than one person can do something (las personas pueden...). Students will read a short story about a boy and his musical family and talk about what instruments each of the family members can play. By the end of this week of lessons students will complete a worksheet talking about what different members of their family can do. Week #3: Students will learn how to conjugate the verb "poder" when talking about themselves with others (we can- podemos) and when talking directly to a group of people (you all can- vosotros podéis). We'll conduct a class poll to discover activities that the class can do together and create sentences about what we can do (Podemos pintar- we can paint, Podemos jugar fútbol- we can play soccer etc.). At the end of this week the class will complete an "entrevista- interview" of their classmates and talk about what different members of the class can do (vosotros podéis pintar- you all can paint) and what they can do alongside their classmates (podemos jugar- we can play). Week #4: Week #4 will be a complete review of the verb poder. Students will complete activities and worksheets that will test their skills on conjugating this verb in its different forms. Week #5: Students will be introduced to the verb "querer- to want". Students will learn how to create sentences about what they themselves want to do (quiero) and what "you" want to do (quieres). Students will learn the words "antes-before" and "después- after" and talk about what they typically want to do before and after school. Students will also review/learn the days of the week and talk about what activities they want to do during a typical week. "El lunes yo quiero jugar con amigos- On Monday I want to play with friends" etc. Week #6: Students will learn how to create sentences about what a single person wants to do (quiere- he/she/it wants..) and what a group of people wants to do (quieren- they want...). Students will read a story about a family who wants to go on vacation. Students will read this story and afterwards complete a worksheet where they will be asked to state what each family wants to do during the vacation. This worksheet will also include a review of the days of the week in Spanish. Week #7: Students will begin this week of classes reviewing/learning the months of the year in Spanish. The class will create a flashcard game which students can continue playing after class to continue practicing the months of the year. In the second meeting of this week students will be introduced to the conjugation of the verb "querer" that will allow them to talk about what "we want" to do. Students will read a letter written by a fictional person to a travel agent describing the trip they want to go on with their family. Students will be asked to identify each time the verb "querer- to want" is written in the letter and who it is referring to. If time allows, the class will write a fictional letter to a travel agent pretending we are going on a trip. This letter will state where we can to go and what we want to do as a class. Week #8: Students will begin this week by reviewing "queremos" and then will learn the conjugation "queréis- you all want". Students this week will independently write a letter to a pretend travel agent describing a trip they want to take with family or friends that talks about what they all want to do on this vacation. In our second meeting students will switch roles and pretend they are the travel agent confirming details of a trip another family would like to take. Students will read a script allowing them to take on both roles and complete a fill in the blank exercise which asks the to correctly conjugate the verb "querer" to either queremos or queréis. Week #9: The final week of this class will be a complete review of the verb querer. Students will complete activities and worksheets that will test their skills on conjugating this verb in its different forms. END OF COURSE! Keep a lookout for our other class offerings :) ********* 🌟Teaching Approach 1) Our number one priority is making your student feel welcome and included. We understand that when students feel comfortable they are more open to learning new things. 2) New concepts in this class are presented via presentations, TPR (total physical response), pictures, games, stories and props to help your child make associations between new words/verbs and their meaning. English will be used to help clarify or explain new grammar concepts. 3) Teachers speak slowly and clearly and model sentence frames and vocabulary for students. After modeling the sentence frames the students and teacher will practice them in a call and response manner. 4) Class activities include a mix of speaking, listening and writing/drawing activities. Teachers may utilize Nearpod (https://nearpod.com/) in class presentations so that students can demonstrate their understanding in a nonverbal manner by drawing on presentation slides. 6) This course is designed to give students repeat exposure to the target vocabulary and grammar concepts so they have plenty of opportunities to practice and master the lesson objectives. Please send us a message if you have any questions and we hope to see your child in class soon! Nos Vemos Pronto :) ****************** REFUNDS & TRANSFERS: Per Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class."
