In this multi-day course students will learn the short sound of the 5 vowels (a, e, i, o, u)  and how to blend them in CVC words. 

Once a week for five weeks we will meet to go over one of the 5 short vowels (a, e, i, o, u). We will begin by  introducing the vowel and how to sound it out. We will use CVC words and  word families to practice blending the vowel sound with consonants. Examples: -at -ip -ox, -en, -un. We will use picture cues to support the learner as they blend the CVC words. We will also include reading and writing the words that focus on the week's skill. Students will be given plenty of opportunity to engage in the lesson to practice their speaking and reading skills. 

Students should know most if not all the alphabet sounds and letters. 

It is strongly encouraged that students attend all meetings, but the lessons do not build on each other, so students can join or leave as needed.
