REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: This is a continuation class from level one. If you did not take level one but you know some Japanese, please make sure you know all of the following before enrolling. YOU CAN ENROLL IN THIS CLASS IF: 1. you can read and write hiragana with ease. 3. you can read and write Japanese numbers with Kanji 4. you can count to 90,000 in Japanese 5. you can ask and talk about ages, grades, nationalities and hobbies. 6. you can introduce yourself and use appropriate greetings 7. you can tell the time in Japanese 8. you understand how to use particles は and の 9. you can use the words これ、それ、あれ・この、その、あの・ここ、そこ、あそこ correctly in sentences 10. you can ask for and understand prices in Japanese WHAT WE WILL BE LEARNING IN LEVEL 2: 1. Particles も、ね、よ、を、に、で、と 2. How to make negative sentences 3. Katakana 4. How to conjugate between casual and polite verbs in Japanese 5. How to invite someone to do something with you 6. How to talk about things you do/don't do 7. How to talk about existing (very important in Japanese) 8. Describing where thing are ("my keys are on the table") 9. Past tense 10. 13 new kanji regarding locations. CLASS STRUCTURE Most classes will be structured as following -Greeings/welcome to class/any questions before we start (5 minutes) -Lecture - I will introduce the new topic and explain how it works with examples. I may ask for students to answer questions as I go along. (usually about 15-20 minutes) - Speaking practice - students will be partnered up and given speaking exercises so they can become comfortable with the new material. The teacher will drop in on each group to monitor progress/behaviour. the speaking exercises start out easy and get more difficult throughout the class. (about 20 minutes) - Wrap up - students can ask questions or reflect on todays lesson. Teacher will announce homework expectations for the next lesson.

Learners should be prepared to take notes, in whatever form they prefer to take notes. Learners may also want materials to create their own flashcards, if they do not like online flashcards.

I am not a native speaker of Japanese, but I have been speaking Japanese for 10 years, and teaching it for about 6. I have lived long-term, in Japan. I have a Bachelor in Education, majoring in teaching second languages, as well as attended University in Tokyo, Japan.
