We'll be enjoying a virtual vacay in this on-going class in which we read and discuss novels together! The class is comprised of teacher presentation and learner participation. Learners are assigned chapters/pages to read in advance of each class meeting. Class begins with a plot summary of the assigned chapters. Following this plot summary review, I pose guiding questions to initiate a discussion of the novel and to analyze the author's use of literary elements including: characterization, setting, internal and external conflict, motivation, suspense, imagery, narration, and theme. Learners are encouraged to participate in the discussion and to offer their interpretations of the literature. The reading schedule follows: Week 1: _The Summer of Bad Ideas_ (chapters 1-5) Week 2: _The Summer of Bad Ideas_ (chapters 6-11) Week 3: _The Summer of Bad Ideas_ (chapters 12-17) Week 4: _The Summer of Bad Ideas_ (chapters 18-27) Week 5: _We Dream of Space_ (pages 1-98) Week 6: _We Dream of Space_ (pages 99-210) Week 7: _We Dream of Space_ (pages 211-308) Week 8: _We Dream of Space_ (pages 309-380) *Please feel free to contact me if the cost of this class (or any of my classes) is a prohibitive factor to enrolling.

Welcome to my classroom!
For 30 years I've helped students appreciate literature, develop their rhetorical and creative writing skills, and better organize and complete tasks. A central goal of my teaching & coaching is empowering students with strategies they can make use of on their own, and in each class I encourage students to participate fully in our sessions together by contributing to class discussions and asking questions.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education, a Master's Degree in Literature, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. My current class offerings include literature studies, book clubs, creative writing and formal essay writing classes, and Executive Function coaching.
When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and traveling! :)レビュー
