In this ongoing course, students will learn the dynamics of a law office. They will learn about law as a career option as well as skills that will serve as assets in other types of occupations. Students will learn several real life legal skills such as how to submit a FOIA request, draft a press release, basic overview of trials, techniques for legal strategy, how to quickly organize a position for debate, as well as study several landmark Supreme Court cases throughout the series. Each class will focus on one topic or skill and students can join or leave the series at any time.
I am a practicing lawyer who hosts interns in my law office each year and I was an intern for several offices prior to opening up my own.
Learners will be expected to prepare presentations at each session. A pen/pencil and paper is recommended.

US Supreme Court decisions will be discussed as specified on the syllabus
Through a screen share using Google slides, I may share content from the U.S. government websites: U.S. Supreme Court, Freedom of Information Act, Department of Justice, Library of Congress, C-SPAN, and the U.S. House of Representatives. A Youtube video clip may also be used to give context for the legal situation presented through my screen share using Google slides. I may also share content from www.robertsrules.com via a Google slide screen share. The students will not be asked to log on to any source themselves inside or outside of class. Further reading suggestions may be provided on the classroom page for the students own interest and not as a requirement of the class.
