Students will learn basic conversational skills in American Sign Language. We will cover greetings, fingerspelling, WH questions, yes/no questions, Commonly used phrases, and facial expressions. We will learn through games, turn-taking practice, and songs. I will also incorporate some clips from the signing time series by Rachel Coleman. I will also share my screen to show 2-D pictures, then show how to sign in 3-D. This class will be perfect for beginners. We will begin each class with introductions in order to practice fingerspelling names. We will also sing a song about feelings to practice signing and answering how are you? Then we will go over our new signs for the day. We will use games,  songs, and pictures to learn the new signs or phrases. Each student will have a chance to invest with their teacher and peers in American Sign Language in order to build confidence and understanding. The students will have opportunities for reviewing previous topics as well as learning new concepts each week. Week one we will cover basic greetings, fingerspelling, and some emotion words. Week 2 we will review previous vocabulary. Then discuss and learn wh and yes/no questions. We will learn how to ask common questions in ASL. For example, HOW ARE YOU? WHATS THAT? WHERE IS...? Week 3 we will review previous topics through songs and games. Then we will learn common nouns and verbs to put 2 word sentences together. For example, GO HOME, WANT MORE, GO SCHOOL, RUN, PLAY OUTSIDE. Week 4 we will review  previous topics through songs and games. Then we will lean adjectives. For example, HOT, COLD, FUN, SILLY, WET, DRY. Week 5 we will review previous topics, then we will add more adjectives and nouns to help build phrases. Week six, we will put all of the topics s together with songs and games and then practice signing and understanding basic phrases.
