🤔Do you really want the product, or are you just being tricked into wanting it? 🤔 🧠We will apply Aristotle’s rhetoric to answer that question! 🪄This class will use rhetorical analysis to help students decipher whether they want a product or are being sold by tricky marketing. The class will start with an overview of rhetorical proofs. We will review ethos, pathos, and logos and how they are the basis of persuasion. Then we will play a game called “Guess That Proof” to apply the knowledge. We will review advertisements for popular products that are targeted to children. Reviewing the advertisements, we will discuss how the markets adapt to their audience. What do kids like and how are marketers using that to convince them to buy their product?
