Students will practice annotating with me and also have a fun activity that they will annotate on their own. With the individual practice, students will also answer questions and support their answer with textual evidence that was annotated.

Detailed feedback will be made after they complete the individual practice and answer the questions. In this feedback, suggestions for improvement or for extended practice may be given per individual need as observed. Suggestions and comments will be personalized to help the student work toward best successes when actively reading.

In this class, we will be going over annotation  strategies that will help students actively participate in their reading. Through developing and practicing these skills, students will see improvement in text comprehension, grades in all content areas, and test scores. These strategies will also be used as students become contributing members of society as adults.

I have a welcoming, respectful learning environment that is a safe space for all students and learners. I like to have discussion based learning while going through the lesson slides. Questions are always encouraged, as I want to best support my students. 

During the lesson, I will go over different options and ways they can use or modify annotation skills. I will model with a short poem how I annotate. We will work together on another short reading text. At the end they will complete a fun activity that is a case file on "who kidnapped the Principal" and they will answer and defend who they think did it with evidence from the text.
