No prior knowledge of Haitian Creole is required. This is an interactive online course that encourages student participation. Students will learn through question and answer discussions, music and online learning games. Week 1: It's as easy as ABC! Students will learn the Haitian Creole alphabet. We're going to use videos to practice how to put on that perfect Haitian accent! We will also discuss where you will find Haitian Creole speakers in the world. Week 2: Students will learn colors and numbers using memory games and songs. Week 3: Sak pase! Students will learn a few basic greetings and how to talk about our family. We will engage in basic conversation. Week 4: Montre m foto w yo! We will learn how to describe people using physical features. We will use drawing activities to help your child to pale kreyol! Show and tell! We will also learn how to describe animals and our pets in Haitian Creole. Week 5: Nou pral manje! We will learn about typical Haitian food and drinks. Students will learn how to say they are hungry or thirsty. Students will learn how to describe ingredients needed for a simple Dous Makos (Haitian fudge) recipe in Haitian Creole. Week 6: Ann danse! What do you like to do for fun? Through music students will enjoy a lesson on detant nou, your favorite hobbies. Students will also learn how to describe clothing in Haitian Creole. Week 7: We will learn about common Haitian names, special events, life in Haiti and popular places to visit in Haiti.

Hello! My name is Kiana and I'm from New York. I love foreign languages, cooking and photography. I especially enjoy sharing these passions with others who have a thirst for knowledge and an interest in other cultures. I have spent the past nine years teaching students of various ages Basic French, Basic Spanish, Basic Haitian Creole and Cooking. A fun fact about me is that I am a world traveler and I can say a greeting in over 10 languages.
My courses are structured around active participation which allows me to determine the student's level of progress. All are encouraged to develop their reasoning and critical thinking skills. Material sufficient for each session is covered and reviewed to foster learning and improve memory.
