Are you curious to learn more about every state in America? This is the class for you!

In this flex class, we will focus on different states each week. Students will learn different things about each state including the state capital, major cities, industries, notable landmarks, geography and more. Through this class, students will get a better idea of the similarities and differences between each state. Students will come to understand the importance of each state in the United States.

This is a flex class, so it has no live online meetings. Each week, learners are presented with a pre-recorded video lesson. Additionally, each week learners will be assigned one or two activities to complete related to the pre-recorded video. Learners are expected to interact with the assignment conversations in the classroom to develop a sense of community in the classroom. Learners can interact in a method that best suits them: writing responses to a post, making short videos or posting pictures as their response to the assignments. The instructor will check in on the assignments and provide feedback and guidance through the classroom. New lessons will be provided every Monday during the duration of the course.

Students who live in one of the states being discussed each week are encouraged to share their special knowledge about their home state. Also, students who have visited a state are encouraged to share their knowledge based on their experience.

A handout will be provided during the first week of class. As we learn about each state, students will be encouraged to take notes using the provided handout, or using their own notebooks. Students will also receive a map for labeling.

Including note-taking, assignments and review, students should expect to spend about 2-4 hours per week on this course, though some students may need more time.

We will focus on states in the order of ratification:

Week 1: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut
Week 2: Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia
Week 3: New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Kentucky
Week 4: Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi
Week 5: Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas
Week 6: Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin
Week 7: California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia
Week 8: Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota
Week 9: Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah
Week 10: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii (and overview of American territories)

Hello! I'm Miss Ronnie. I look forward to being your teacher!

I have been working as a teacher for over 10 years. After graduating from university, I pursued my passion for teaching. During my teaching career, I have taught a wide range of subjects and ages.

My philosophy is that learning should be interactive, engaging and fun. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge through Outschool.

I look forward to meeting your learner in class!

Please see below for my policies:

CLASS RULES
I have three simple rules in all of my classes. They are:
- Be respectful of others
- Don't interrupt when others are talking
- Your microphone may be muted if you have excessive background noise
Generally, behavior issues in class are uncommon and are handled on a case-by-case basis to optimize the learning environment for all learners. I will send the parent a message after class if there is a concern in class.

SIBLING POLICY
It is common for more than one learner in a family to be interested in taking a class. As long as each learner is enrolled separately, that is no problem. Once each learner is enrolled separately, they are welcome to share a camera and screen to attend the class. Unenrolled family members should remain off camera during lesson time.

LEARNER AGE
If you are interested in registering a learner who falls outside the recommended age range of one of my classes, you're encouraged to send me a message to see if your learner would fit into a class if outside of the recommended age range. It is usually no problem as long as it doesn't compromise the learning experience of the other participants in the class.

STUDENT INFORMATION
If there is anything about your learner that I should be aware of as the teacher, you're encouraged to send me a message. I always appreciate hearing from parents about any specific concerns that may arise during class. This helps me to ensure the best possible learning experience for everyone in the class.

CLASS PREPARATION
Parents are encouraged to check the supply list in advance of the lesson to make sure that all necessary supplies are ready when class begins. If you are unable to have the supplies needed for a class, please send me a message so I can manage that situation for your learner in class effectively.

TECHNICAL ISSUES
If you encounter technical issues with class, you should reach out to support@outschool.com for assistance. Outschool's support system is excellent.

REFUND POLICY
- For one-time classes: Follow Outschool's Standard Refund Policy. (Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase until class starts.)
- For multi-day classes: Follow Outschool's Limited Refund Policy. (Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase until class starts.)
- For ongoing classes: Follow Outschool's Standard Refund Policy. (Cancel subscription at any point, no refund for past subscriptions. Payments can be refunded within 24 hours of purchase.)
- For flexible schedule classes: Follow Outschool's Flexible Refund Policy. (Full refund until the class begins, or within 24 hours of purchase until class starts, then a pro-rated refund based on the number of meetings.)
Note: There will not be refunds for missed classes or partial refunds for being late to class.

MISSED CLASSES AND CLASS RECORDINGS
If your learner has missed a class, you are encouraged to request the recording of the live class by sending me a message. Recordings of live classes are not automatically posted to the classroom. To protect the privacy of other learners in the class, recordings for social classes will not be shared. Makeup classes are not offered for missed classes.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Strong parent-teacher communication helps to ensure that your child's experience in class is a positive one.

I look forward to seeing your learner in class!
