Welcome to our ongoing art history club for artists of all levels, where we will focus on a variety of historical painters throughout time. This is a social course that is perfect for beginner artists and specializes in discussing historical art pieces from an analytical perspective. First we will begin class learning about a specific artist from a historical movement and the different techniques he or she may have used to get their point across. We will ask questions like why did the artist did what they did and how did they do it? We will focus on the history behind each piece and the events that may have influenced the artist to make that specific work. We will also focus on various techniques the artist used throughout history and then we will use our own materials to implement that technique in class during talk time. In addition to game time, we will then make our own artwork in response to the artwork we have just studied. All students are welcome to bring their own coloring or painting materials to class. This is a homeschool friendly course that integrates different subject matter like art and history into it's curriculum while facilitating a social environment where students can learn through play. After the demo and game time talking amongst each other is encouraged. ** ALL STUDENTS ARE FREE TO USE WHATEVER ART MATERIAL THEY FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE WITH*** **NOTE: THIS IS CURRICULUM ROTATES ANNUALLY, COME THE NEW YEAR WE WILL START BACK AT THE BEGINNING** ---2024 SCHEDULE--- --JANUARY-- "IMPRESSIVE IMPRESSIONISTS" 1/1/24-1/6/24 How to Capture Celebrations like Pierre Renoir 1/7/24-1/13/24 How to Capture Memories Like Mary Cassatt 1/14/23-1/20/24 How to Capture Memorable Places 1/21/23-1/27/24 How to Draw Our Favorite Hobbies 1/28/23-1/31/24 How to Draw a Still Life like Paul Cezanne **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 2/3/24** --FEBRUARY-- "POWER OF POST IMPRESSIONISM" 2/4/24-2/10/24 How to Draw a Still Life like Paul Cezanne 2/11/24-2/17/24 How to Draw Animals like Henri Rousseau 2/18/24-2/24/24 How to Draw Totem Poles like Emily Carr 2/25/24-2/29/24 How to Make Self Portraits like Vincent van Gogh **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL CONTINUE INTO 3/2/24** --MARCH-- "MOTHER NATURE'S NATURALISM" 3/3/24-3/9/24 How to Draw Insects Like Maria Sibylla Merian 3/10/24-3/16/24 How to Draw Birds Like John James Audubon 3/17/24-3/23/24 How to Draw an Animal Like a Naturalist 3/24/24-3/30/24 How to Make a Collage Like Jan Van Kessel --APRIL-- "POPULAR POP ART" 4/1/24-4/6/24 How to Write a Message Like a Pop Artist 4/7/24-4/13/24 How to Create Our Favorite Products like Andy Warhol 4/14/24-4/20/24 How to Draw Our Favorite Characters like Roy Lichtenstein 4/21/24-4/27/24 How to Fight Social Problems like Keith Haring --MAY-- "OPTICAL ILLUSIONS" 4/28/24-5/4/24 The Secrets Behind Creating Optical Illusions 5/5/24-5/11/24 How to Create an Optical Illusion Using Color Temperature 5/12/24-5/18/24 How to Create Optical Illusions Using Directional Line 5/19/24-5/25/24 How to Create Optical Illusions Using Repetition & Size 5/26/24-5/31/24 How to Trick the Mind like M.C Escher **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 6/1/24** -- JUNE-- "FUN FAUVISM" 6/4/24-6/10/24 How to Make a Fauvist Landscape 6/11/24-6/17/24 How to Draw Our Own Fauvist Window Scenes 6/18/24-6/24/24 How to Draw Our Favorite Rooms Using Fauvism 6/25/24-6/30/24 How to Make a Modigliani Self Portrait **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 7/1/23** --JULY-- "MAJESTIC MODERNISM" 7/2/24-7/8/24 How to Make Modern Art like Jim Dine 7/9/24-7/15/24 How to Make Modern Art like Gustav Klimt 7/16/24-7/22/24 How to Make Modern Art like Jasper Johns 7/23/24-7/29/24 How to Make Modern Art like Georgia O’Keeffe 7/30/24-7/31/24 How to Make Modern Art like Marc Chagall **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 8/5/24** --AUGUST-- "AMERICAN REGIONALISM" 8/6/24-8/12/24 How to Draw Farmland like Thomas Hart Benton 8/13/24-8/19/24 How to Make Self Portraits like Grant Wood 8/20/24-8/26/24 How to Draw Your Favorite Restaurant like Edward Hopper 8/27/24-8/31/24 How to Paint American Culture with Norman Rockwell **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 9/2/24** --SEPTEMBER-- "SUPER SURREALISM" 9/3/24-9/9/24 How to Make Art like a True Surrealist 9/10/24-9/16/24 How to Use the Art of Distortion like Salvador Dali 9/17/24-9/23/24 How to Use Juxtaposition like Rene Magritte 9/24/24-9/28/24 How to Make a Self Portrait like Giuseppe Arcimboldo **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 9/2/24** --OCTOBER-- "EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIONISTS" 9/29/24-10/5/24 The Study of Gesture Drawing via Kathe Kollwitz 10/6/24-10/12/24 How to Use the Art of Color like Pablo Picasso 10/13/24-10/19/24 How to Use the Art of Distortion like Edvard Munch 10/20/24-10/26/24 How to Use the Art of Mark Making like Vincent van Gogh 10/27/23-10/31/24 How to Study Expressionism in Its Simplest Form via Franz Marc **THE LAST LESSON FOR THIS MONTH WILL EXTEND INTO 11/2/24** --NOVEMBER-- "CREATIVE CUBISTS" 11/3/24-11/9/24 Analytical Cubism: How to Draw a Still Life Using Multiple Perspectives 11/10/24-11/16/24 Synthetic Cubism: How to Make Riddles Using Art 11/17/24-11/23/24 Cubism Elements: The Art of Making Fragmented Images 11/24/24-11/30/24 Cubism Elements: How to Draw a Self Portrait Like Pablo Picasso ****THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON 11/27/24 OR 11/28/24**** --DECEMBER-- "FORMIDABLE FUTURISM" 12/1/24-12/7/24 How to Create the Illusion of Movement 12/8/24-12/14/24 How to Draw a Futuristic Landscape 12/15/24-12/21/24 How to Draw a Futuristic Cityscape 12/22/24-12/28/24 How to Make Aerial Art like a Futurist ****THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON 12/24/24 OR 12/25/24****
