My excitement about American symbols began with travels to Washington, DC. I loved stepping onto the exact spot Martin Luther King Jr. stood for his iconic I Have a Dream speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Walking through the White House thrilled me as I imagined the historic individuals who had walked its halls. I have enthusiastically taught many students about Washington, DC through books, music, and plays. I love sharing American symbols with Outschool students! I am a licensed and experienced teacher for elementary students and for Pre-K through Grade 12 deaf/hard-of-hearing students. Additionally, I worked as an educational interpreter for several years.
