🎶Calling all creative and expressive learners!

During this class we will begin with a fun conversation on what we like about the movie, "Moana." We will then learn basic ASL greetings, like “hello” and “how are you?” We will explore American Sign Language with a brief introduction on its use of facial expression. We will then dive into learning ASL to the Chorus of Moana’s  "How Far I’ll Go". We will end class with a game of Kahoot! Trivia on Moana. It is helpful to have a basic knowledge of the movie and songs, but not required!

It is important to note that I may change the order of these activities based on student interaction and enthusiasm level. Teaching is an art of adaptation!

I have taken American Sign Language courses throughout high school and college from a master interpreter from Gallaudet University. I have participated in ASL meetup events in which we only signed, and did not verbally speak. After college, I continued to encourage and educate students about ASL and Deaf Culture as a music teacher for grades K-12. I developed a passion for signing in song and that is what I love to teach on Outschool. I hope to see your learner soon!
