Topics range from simple greetings to identifying people. In ASL, this feature is used to identify who the speaker is talking about. This can include the type of skin they have or hair color. This is normal in the deaf community. This is a way for deaf consumers to identify who they are talking about either in an intimate setting talking about someone one or in a public setting.

教師の専門知識と資格
Hello Everyone! Here is a little bit about myself ; I am born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida
A friend of mine who is Deaf lived in my neighborhood. She and I grew to become friends, where I started to learn American Sign Language. At that time, her interpreter encouraged the other children to learn sign language, and we created an after-school program.
In 2011, I moved to Boston, where I transferred to a community college in Massachusetts at Northern Essex Community College. Here I earned my two-year degree in Deaf Studies and continued to work towards earning a bachelor’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting. I was able to find a wonderful job with a family that had a beautiful deaf daughter who needed care. After finishing my degree, one of my goals is to become an interpreter that consumes diversity with the people I want to work alongside.
In 2018, I transferred to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville to finish my bachelor’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting. I graduated with my BS in sign language interpreting at the University of North Florida in the fall of 2020. I am extremely motivated & driven to succeed, easily adaptable, and very determined to continue to learn and grow both professionally & personally. I am always searching for opportunities that will allow me to continue to work on obtaining a degree, continuing my education while doing something I love.
I have obtained Knowledgeable skills in sign language interpreting specializing in various settings. I am organized and diligent in providing optimal interpretations in an efficient and accurate manner. As a Sign Language Interpreter, I am well-versed in working in different environments to facilitate communication for Deaf/DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing individuals.
Adept at interpreting conversations and media, collecting materials, and taking notes to help for accuracy and compassion. Experienced in providing interpretation services for medical appointments, outpatient facilities, physical therapy, HOA meetings, education k-12, and much more. I am dedicated to the continuous development of skills to better serve communication needs for all parties while maintaining emotion, style, and content of speaker's words in translations and familiar with deeper cultural context behind phrases.
As a professional interpreter with twenty-five years in the community and four years of experience as an interpreter I work with diverse individuals between English and ASL without missing details. Focused on advancing vocabulary, idiomatic, and cultural understanding with up-to-date knowledge.
EXPERIENCE:
Sign Language Interpreter
Self-Employed Feb 2020 - Present
I took an opportunity to work in a local high school with a DeafBlind student.
I helped assess his needs as he was transitioning from another high school to Spanish River High.
His mother wanted him to have his independence and felt this is a great fit for him to grow with others. I created lesson plans to fit his needs so he can engage with the other students and not feel behind.
I realized I have a passion for guiding Deaf/DeafBlind/Hard of Hearing students and ensuring they are receiving the appropriate guidance and education.
Due to the pandemic, I have taken on community work in a variety of setting for example, orthopedic outpatient centers, medical, surgeries, physical therapy in the Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, and West Palm Beach areas.
I traveled to Port St. Lucie Located in Florida as a substitute at Oak Hammock k-12 settings, and teamed assignments for continuing education classes and certifications.
I am looking forward to continuing my journey as working interpreting and dedicating my time in serving with the community.
