このクラスで学べること

米国の学年 4 - 7
While acknowledging that the United States has had its share of flaws throughout history, sensitive topics will not be discussed to avoid controversy. Instead, we will explore the achievements of those who founded America and how they shaped the nation we know today.

*Videos make history accessible for students who may struggle with traditional teaching methods and cater to visual and auditory learners. Videos also bring historical events to life, which makes them more memorable and easier for students to understand.

See SCHEDULE in the course description for the list of topics.

Students can further explore the subject matter by clicking on the kid-friendly video links or websites at the bottom of the "Unlock the Past Fast - Take Away Notes" to deepen their knowledge. HIGHLY RECOMMEND: GETTING STARTED - Right Away! I highly recommend that learners create an interactive notebook (of sorts) with the "Take Away Notes" that accompany each lesson so that they can organize the materials for future use. This allows students to build their own study guide and provides a way for them to refer back to the information later on. By creating an interactive notebook, students can also add their own notes, illustrations, and diagrams, which can further enhance their understanding of the material. Overall, It's a great way to encourage active learning and ensure that students retain the information over time. To create an interactive notebook, students will need a spiral notebook, a variety of "sharpie-type" highlighters, and rubber cement or glue stick. (I like rubber cement because it doesn’t wrinkle the paper and you can re-position the page if you “mess up”.) Directions are included in the WELCOME EMAIL.

** Learning American history provides context for understanding the development of the country's political institutions, including the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and other laws that govern American society.

** Civics focuses on the roles and responsibilities of citizens within the political system, such as voting, participating in government, and protecting individual rights.

There are many arguments that certain amendments, political party views, and terminology conjure. Controversy will not be discussed in this class. Students will be referred to the adults in their homes if they ask questions that might open up a "hot" topic.

My goal is to create a learning environment that is inclusive and respectful of all perspectives, allowing students to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills.
