Hello students and parents! My name is Mrs. Amber. I am so excited to be your teacher.  My teaching style is full of enthusiasm and creativity. It's important to me to create a warm and inviting classroom for my students to enjoy learning. I want to offer literacy and phonic classes for young learners ages Pre-k through elementary school. I am passionate about helping students learn to read, starting with the basics of phonics and working their way up to independent reading. Below is a list of my professional background, degrees, and certifications I hold. Aside from teaching, I love to be adventurous with my family. We like to travel and spend time a lot of time outdoors. Come grow and learn with Mrs. Amber! I am excited to meet you.

Professional background:

- Bachelor's degree in Elementary- I am currently working on my degree in Elementary Education. I take educational classes that pertain to this degree as well as observe in a classroom setting. 

- Preschool teacher- I have been working with preschool-aged children for 12 years. I started as a daycare preschool teacher for five years. For the past seven years, I have been an assistant pre-k teacher in a school-based setting. I help prepare lesson plans and teach the students. 

- Online ESL ( English as a Second Language) teacher (Palfish)- I have been an online teacher for two years, tutoring students ages 3- 12 years old.  I have taught phonics, reading comprehension, spelling, writing, and basic math with this online program.

- Tutoring-  I have been tutoring elementary-aged (ages 5-10) student's literacy, phonics, and phonemic awareness for the past six years. I have taught letter identification, letter sound, CVC words, word families, blends, rhyming words, syllables, sight words, spelling, writing, and reading comprehension. I create my own lesson plans to meet the individual needs of each student. 

- Children's Pastor- I am a children's pastor for ages birth through 5th grade. I create lesson plans and manage/ organize volunteers to help in our children's ministry.

-I am married and a mom of two children. Our son is 11 years old, and our daughter is four years old. I am not their teacher, but I assist with their educational needs daily. 


Degrees and certificates:

I received my Associate of Art degree in 2018 from Black River Technical College.  I am currently working on my bachelor's in elementary education from Grand Canyon University.

 - CDA ( Child Development Associate) certificate. I received this credential in 2010 from Arkansas State University.

 ESL ( English as a Second Language) TESOL certificate from International Open Academy in 2020.
