In this introductory class, your child will learn all about clouds. First, we will discuss how a cloud is made. I will use visuals to increase understanding. Second, we will discuss if clouds have weight and what makes them appear to float in the sky. Next, your child will learn about four different types of clouds: cirrus, stratus, cumulus, and cumulonimbus. I will use a Google slide presentation to show pictures of the different clouds, we will discuss the defining characteristics of each type of cloud and how we can predict the weather based on the type of cloud. Finally, I will direct your child through a hands-on project in which he/she makes a visual representation of the four different types of clouds.

Students will learn how the water cycle contributes to making a cloud. Students will learn how water can change form: solid, liquid, or gas. Students will learn that clouds and the air mass under them have different weights. Students will learn how to distinguish four different types of clouds. Students will learn that we can predict the weather based on the type of cloud we see in the sky.

Parental guidance is required for the use of scissors.
受講に必要なもの
Your child will need the following materials for the hands-on project: a blue piece of construction paper, about 10-15 cotton balls, child scissors, liquid glue, and a black or gray marker. I will also provide a pdf file of labels for the clouds. (Note: If you print out and pre-cut the labels, your child will not need scissors. If you do not have a printer, your child can use his/her marker to label the clouds.)
