Students will learn about the life of the courageous Sojourner Truth. They will learn about her struggles, her contributions and her accomplishments. They will be able to understand her life as a slave and what she did to get her freedom. They will also understand what she did as a women's rights activist. I will teach them what she did to help other people. We will discuss why she is an important historical figure. Each student will be able to interact and share their thoughts and feelings. They will understand why/how she was a great brave, and outspoken black woman in America . Since this topic is related to African American history we will have discussions about racism and slavery. Students will understand how this applied to Sojourner's life and how it applies today. They will be able to kindly express their thoughts and opinions on this subject.

As an ESL Teacher and Tutor, I have taught classes on African American history, American Figures, and the civil rights movement for over 4 years. I have experience in teaching this subject to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I also have experience tutoring college students. I have a degree in Communications, so I will be able to communicate and teach this topic without being bias. I was able to research, write essays, and give speeches about this topic throughout college. I was trained by professionals to understand history and the issues surrounding history. Most importantly, I will allow each student to express their thoughts and opinions about this topic. This will help them communicate and show what they have learned.
