Class Experience Students will be introduced to letter shapes, the sounds letters represent, and simple rhyming words. Through teacher-directed activities, your child will create a work of art with given letters and letter sounds. These classes are stand-alone courses, and your child will need no prior knowledge of previous classes. Not only do students learn letters and sounds, I also teach the Days of the Week and weather concepts. At the beginning of class, approximately five minutes will be for introductions and warm-up activities that include songs, skywriting, and letter/sound reinforcement. I will be using Google Slides as a tool to introduce and reinforce concepts. Parents do not need to have a subscription, or password for Google Slides. About twenty minutes will be for applying letter knowledge and creating a work of art to reinforce the letters, sounds, and simple rhyming words that go along with the given letters. Wrap-up activities will take place at the end of the lesson. Below is a tentative list of the original animal characters we will be drawing per class, as the focus of the lessons. The animal characters may change based on the student's level of abilities. My classes are fun and informal. I encourage students to be on "gallery view," when in the classroom. This allows students to converse with one another. I use puppets, songs, flashcards, and Google Slides to reinforce concepts. I will be using Google Slides in my classes to introduce and reinforce concepts. Parents do not need a passwords or access to the Google Slides used in the class presentation. Parents will not need a password.

Students will need BLANK drawing paper (no lines or notebook paper), crayons, and markers. We may also use scissors from time to time.

Hello moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, caretakers, and learners! I'm Dru Driver, M.Ed.
I love teaching!
Pre-k and kindergarten are where it all begins, and that's where I started. I taught kindergarten and pre-k for fifteen years before going into counseling. I have had extensive training in identifying dyslexia. I offer classes where young children learn letters and sounds through a motor-tactile experience. I hold certifications in ESL (English as a Second Language) and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language). I have been teaching online ESL/TESOL classes since 2019.
I began counseling pre-k through 12 grades in 1996. I have taught PK-12th various activities and skills that range from leadership to exploring career programs of study. My counseling experiences have also included occasions where we dealt with grief.
I love animals of all kinds, and I am also a professional dog groomer.
Interacting with nature and taking pictures of wildlife is a passion I have had since I was a small child. I have had many experiences caring for and raising wildlife. I have successfully raised baby birds, squirrels, rabbits, opossums, and beavers.
I am certified to teach art in Texas, and I offer classes such as basic drawing and painting for beginning learners and art appreciation for all levels. Art is an area where children can explore their creative sides and deepest emotions. Often, art is a way for children to express themselves when they know no other way.
I have four children who are now grown, and they are all successful in their chosen professions.
I have found that being caring, artistic, and creative has enhanced my abilities to help others. I love teaching, and in my world, there is nothing more magical or miraculous than seeing children learning new skills. Learning is a lifelong endeavor for me, and I try to instill a love of learning in all my students. When you find what children love, you can teach them anything!
