Assessment
Students will receive feedback on their writing during class and are welcome to submit outside of class for more personalized feedback.

Welcome, aspiring writers! 📝 Whether you're a writing wizard or just starting your literary journey, there's always room to grow. Join me in this engaging eight-week course to elevate your writing skills and conquer new learning goals! 🌈

📌 Course Highlights:

Week 1: Master sentence construction! Identify simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences. Craft sentences of varied lengths for fluency. 🤓✍️

Week 2: Dive into the world of figurative language! Identify and create sentences with figurative language, adding a touch of creativity to your writing with alliteration, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. 🌌🗣️

Week 3:  Immerse yourself in the realm of figurative language part 2! Discover and craft sentences featuring figures of speech, infusing your writing with creativity using personification, metaphors, similies, and idioms. 🗣️🌌

Week 4: Explore model paragraphs! Learn about topic sentences, supporting details, and concluding sentences. Craft both expository and opinion paragraphs like a pro. 📝🔍

Weeks 5-6: Embark on the essay-writing journey! Study a model outline, understand essay organization, and create multi-paragraph essays with finesse. 📄✨

Weeks 7-8: 🤝 Collaborate by sharing, actively listen, and offer constructive feedback to your peers. 🎤 Participate in peer-editing sessions and engage in self-reflection activities to enhance your learning experience. 🚀

Assignments given after each class.
Turn in assignments 12 hours or more before the next class for feedback.

Workbook 📚
You will see a workbook provided when you enroll. This is optional homework for the class, meant to supplement what we do together. We won't review it in class, but I will provide feedback outside of class if you complete and send it to me via a private message.

There is no Zoom link or ID/passcode needed. Outschool has embedded a bluish-purple "Join Meeting" button in the student's classroom. Click that button to enter the class. Please make sure you know how to log in before class. Teachers do not have access to your login info. For any tech issues, contact support@outschool or use the help button.

She holds both a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree from Trinity International University. Her passion is to support her students both academically and emotionally 💖. Her approach is to meet them where they are 🌟. She emphasizes their strengths 💪 while building upon any areas of weakness 🛠️.

KRISTEN PAULSON
Kristen’s passion for teaching began early, and she brings seven years of experience in Tennessee, teaching grades 1, 3, and 6, as well as English Language Learners. With a bachelor’s in Social Sciences and a master’s in Elementary Education, Kristen’s commitment to fostering a love for learning shines in every lesson. 🌟✨
