This class is interactive, where I will break concepts down and check for understanding throughout the class. I scaffold and adjust my pacing to suit the needs of the students. I will use visuals, mnemonics, real-world examples, discussion, guided notes, and games to ensure a deep understanding. Student participation is expected. I strive to make learning fun and instill confidence in the student. My classroom is more than a place to learn conversions and formulas; it is a safe, supportive...

Unit 1StatisticsStatistics8 lessons4 WeeksWeek 1Lesson 1Measures of central tendencyIdentify, calculate, and interpret the minimum, maximum, mean, median, mode, range & outliers of a data set.Lesson 2Measures of variationIdentify, calculate, and interpret the interquartile range and mean absolute deviation of a data set.Week 2Lesson 3Populations and samplesUnderstand that statistics can be used to gain information about a population by examining a sample of the population; generalizations about a population from a sample are valid only if the sample is representative of that population. Understand that random sampling tends to produce representative samples and support valid inferences.Lesson 4Populations and samplesUse data from a random sample to draw inferences about a population with an unknown characteristic of interest.Week 3Lesson 5GraphsCreate, interpret, and identify different graphical displays.Lesson 6GraphsCreate, interpret, and identify different graphical displays.Week 4Lesson 7Graphs and distributionCompare different graphical displays and their distributions. Draw conclusions and answer real-world questions using these graphs.Lesson 8Graphs and distributionCompare different graphical displays and their distributions. Draw conclusions and answer real-world questions using these graphs.Unit 2ProbabilityProbability4 lessons2 WeeksWeek 5Lesson 9Introduction to probabilityUnderstand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood. A probability near 0 indicates an unlikely event, a probability around 1/2 indicates an event that is neither unlikely nor likely, and a probability near 1 indicates a likely event.Lesson 10Introduction to probabilityApproximate the probability of a chance event by collecting data on the chance process that produces it and observing its long-run relative frequency, and predict the approximate relative frequency given the probability.Week 6Lesson 11Applications of probabilityDevelop a probability model and use it to find probabilities of events. Compare probabilities from a model to observed frequencies; if the agreement is not good, explain possible sources of the discrepancy.Lesson 12Applications of probabilityFind probabilities of compound events using organized lists, tables, tree diagrams, and simulation.Unit 3MeasurementMeasurement4 lessons2 WeeksWeek 7Lesson 13Customary MeasurementConvert among different-sized standard customary measurement units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.Lesson 14Metric MeasurementConvert among different-sized standard metric measurement units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.Week 8Lesson 15TemperatureRead thermometers and estimate temperatures in Fahrenheit and Celsius. Convert between Fahrenheit and Celsius.Lesson 16Convert MeasurementsConvert between metric and customary units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.
Students will use facts about angles to solve multi-step problems. Students will apply various methods to find the probabilities of compound events. Students will draw inferences about a population.
宿題が提供されます
I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.評価が提供されます
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I will also provide a feedback report on each student at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.成績が提供されます
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. No textbooks or workbooks are required.
My classroom is a safe, supportive environment where students learn communication, social, and problem-solving skills. Every child can succeed with guidance and encouragement. I am passionate about math. I know a lot of tricks and mnemonics to...
