This class is interactive, where I will break concepts down and check for understanding throughout the class. I scaffold and adjust my pacing to suit the needs of the students. I will use visuals, mnemonics, real-world examples, discussion, guided notes, and games to ensure a deep understanding. Student participation is expected. I strive to make learning fun and instill confidence in the student. My classroom is more than a place to learn conversions and formulas; it is a safe, supportive...

Unit 1Ratios and Proportional RelationshipsRatios and Proportional Relationships4 lessons2 WeeksWeek 1Lesson 1PercentUnderstand percent. Convert between percent, decimals, and fractions.Lesson 2Percent & ReviewUse multiplication and division to solve real-world and mathematical problems involving percent.Week 2Lesson 3Ratios & ProportionsUnderstand the concept of a unit rate a/b associated with a ratio a:b with b is not equal to 0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship.Lesson 4Unit rates, ratios, and percent in the real-world*QUse ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations. *Quiz.Unit 2MeasurementMeasurement4 lessons2 WeeksWeek 3Lesson 5Customary measurementConvert among different-sized standard customary measurement units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.Lesson 6Metric measurementConvert among different-sized standard metric measurement units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.Week 4Lesson 7TemperatureRead thermometers and estimate temperatures in Fahrenheit and Celsius. Convert between Fahrenheit and Celsius.Lesson 8Compare and convert measurementConvert between metric and customary units, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.Unit 3StatisticsStatistics8 lessons4 WeeksWeek 5Lesson 9Measures of central tendencyIdentify, calculate, and interpret the minimum, maximum, mean, median, mode, range & outliers of a data set.Lesson 10Measures of variationIdentify, calculate, and interpret the interquartile range and mean absolute deviation of a data set.Week 6Lesson 11Classify dataClassify and interpret data and judge its validity.Lesson 12SamplingUnderstand that statistics can be used to gain information about a population by examining a sample of the population; generalizations about a population from a sample are valid only if the sample is representative of that population. Understand that random sampling tends to produce representative samples and support valid inferences.Week 7Lesson 13Graphs Part 1Create, interpret, and identify different graphical displays: Line & dot plots & graphsLesson 14Graphs Part 2Create, interpret, and identify different graphical displays: Histograms & bar graphsWeek 8Lesson 15Graphs Part 3Create, interpret, and identify different graphical displays: Box plots, Stem & Leaf plots, & Pie chartsLesson 16Graphs and distributionCreate, interpret, and identify different graphical displays: scatter plots. Compare different graphical displays and their distributions. Use these graphs to draw conclusions and answer real-world questions.
Students will develop an understanding of statistical variability. Students will summarize and describe distributions. Students will understand ratio concepts and use ratio reasoning to solve problems.

I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.評価が提供されます
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I can also provide a progress report at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.成績が提供されます
Students need to have taken 5th grade math or have been tested on a 6th grade level.
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. A printer would be beneficial for notes, but is not required.
My classroom is a safe, supportive environment where students learn communication, social, and problem-solving skills. Every child can succeed with guidance and encouragement. I am passionate about math. I know a lot of tricks and mnemonics to...
