This class is interactive, where I will break concepts down and check for understanding throughout the class. I scaffold and adjust my pacing to suit the needs of the students. I will use visuals, mnemonics, real-world examples, discussion, guided notes, and games to ensure a deep understanding. Student participation is expected. I strive to make learning fun and instill confidence in the student. My classroom is more than a place to learn conversions and formulas; it is a safe, supportive...

Unit 1Operations and Algebraic ThinkingOperations and Algebraic Thinking4 lessons2 WeeksWeek 1Lesson 1Order of OperationsUse parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.Lesson 2Interpret numerical expressionsWrite simple expressions that record calculations with numbers and interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them.Week 2Lesson 3Understand expressionsUse variables to write algebraic expressionsLesson 4Evaluate expressionsWrite simple expressions that record calculations with numbers. Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.Unit 2Number and Operations-FractionsNumber and Operations-Fractions12 lessons6 WeeksWeek 3Lesson 5FactorsFind the factors of a number using divisibility rules and identify the Greatest Common Factor of two numbers.Lesson 6MultiplesUse number sense to find the multiples of a number and identify the Least Common Multiple of two numbers.Week 4Lesson 7Understand fractionsUse models and real-world scenarios to interpret, write, and model fractions.Lesson 8Simplify fractionsUse divisibility rules to reduce fractions to their simplest form.Week 5Lesson 9Convert fractionsConvert fractions to and from mixed numbers, improper form, and decimals.Lesson 10Add and subtract fractionsAdd and subtract fractions with unlike denominators by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators.Week 6Lesson 11Multiply fractionsApply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.Lesson 12Divide fractionsInterpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator (a/b = a ÷ b). Solve word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem.Week 7Lesson 13Add and subtract mixed numbersAdd and subtract mixed numbers with unlike denominators by replacing given fractions with equivalent mixed numbers in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of mixed numbers with like denominators.Lesson 14Multiply & divide mixed numbersSolve real-world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem.Week 8Lesson 15Compare & order fractionsCompare and order fractions using one of the three methods: Convert to decimals, find the common denominators, or cross multiply.Lesson 16Fractions applicationSolve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole, including cases of unlike denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. Use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate mentally and assess the reasonableness of answers.
Students will write and interpret numerical expressions. Students will analyze patterns and relationships. Students will use equivalent fractions as a strategy to add and subtract fractions. Students will apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to multiply and divide fractions.

I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall or message me privately for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.評価が提供されます
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I can also provide a progress report at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.成績が提供されます
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. A printer would be beneficial for notes, but is not required.
My classroom is a safe, supportive environment where students learn communication, social, and problem-solving skills. Every child can succeed with guidance and encouragement. I am passionate about math. I know a lot of tricks and mnemonics to...
