Welcome Outschool Students & Families!

In our reoccurring & engaging 4th-grade class, students will be introduced to a years worth of math curriculum! Whether your student is entering into the 4th grade or has completed the grade and needs a refresher on various mathematical concepts - this class is perfect!

Our class provides students with an immersive experience, as we use multiple learning differentiations to ensure all abilities are met! Math should be embraced by students and teachers with excitement, versus anxiety and fear. Our class brings forth the joy of what math can be through the use of various techniques. Remember, not every child learns in the same manner! Whether your student is homeschooled or attends traditional school, what makes our class different is the use of online platforms. We utilize technological advances in two forms: Nearpod & Genially Learning.

📚 Our Class Experience 📚

Each meeting, the teacher will cover the math concept for that day through a 'mini lesson' for students to follow along. All lessons covered will be presented on Nearpod, in which students will be given a link with a pin code. If for any reason a student cannot utilize Nearpod, have no fear, students are able to use the pencil/paper or whiteboard/marker method! I use the word "presentation" loosely as Nearpod is a more gamified way for students to interact within the lesson. Providing students with a gamified experience enhances their engagement and interaction!

Outside of each live meeting, at the start of each week, students will be given the outline of which math concepts will be taught; along with worksheets to complete. Of course, students will complete said worksheets outside of class time to enhance the concepts learned for that specific day!

❓What is Nearpod?❓

🔗 Nearpod is a website in which the teacher will utilize for our mini lesson of the day! Not only is Nearpod used for a means of teaching our lesson, but students have the ability to use it for practicing the learned material. Nearpod is a free website that can be used on with the mobile app or computer! All students will need is to enter the PIN code provided by the teacher each day we meet. :)

❓What is Genially?❓

🔗 Genially is another gamified method used for learning! After class, students will be given a link that takes you on a fun and gamified experience of learning. Each lesson or topic covered in class, students will be able to play games to enhance their comprehension of the learned material. Students are able to play the games as many times as they would like! Genially is free website, no need for a log in or pin code. The link provided by the teacher directs to our gaming experience!

🌻 Method of Teaching & Learning Abilities 🌻

Beyond the use of technology, the teaching style I have is student centered, this way instruction will be based on how well the students are taking in the information. My goal is to guide students, and to ensure they feel comfortable on their journey of learning mathematical concepts! As their teacher, I am able to reach all learning types: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic.
