Students will explore parts of speech, grammar basics, sentence structure, and how to use these tools to create impactful paragraphs. The first few classes focus on grammar basic while writing responses to short passages read in class. During the second week, we'll students will transition to writing a short 4 paragraph essay. Develop a solid understand of the components of a 5 paragraph essay. The ability to write about a personal experience real or imagined by using clear and complete statements. Develop comfort with using a brainstorm and outline.
Ms. Rae has over 8 years of experience teaching creative writing to Middle School students. She has been teaching ESL learners online for 6 years, is TOEFL certified, and holds a Bachelors degree in Performing Arts.

A device with a keyboard, working microphone, and a mouse. Using a laptop or computer is ideal.

Students do not have to be good at typing, but should be comfortable using a mouse and a keyboard. This class does not use paper and pencil. No special accounts need to be created to use Google Docs. If your child does not have an email account to access Google Docs, then the teacher will be able to send the content using another method. Students may be asked to revise their written work before the next in-person meeting. Teacher comments are placed in the document's comment section. In some cases, the teacher may remit a short video to the student to demonstrate what changes are recommended.
All students will need a Scratch.org account
