I've taught literary elements through book studies numerous times over the years, online and in-person through my teaching and library experience. I've found that students, even struggling readers, enjoy learning the elements more through novel reads than literature textbook chapters filled with short story selections or book excerpts.

Parent permission is required for students to participate in a Kahoot challenge. The Kahoot app and/or website does not require students to make accounts. The teacher holds the account. Students are given a pin number to access the class challenge and play. I have taught numerous book studies over the years and make a point of guiding students to take turns and participate.
The following three books are required and readily available at bookstores and Amazon.com (Cheapest on Amazon, less than $8.00 each): The World According to Humphry by Betty G. Birney Pax by Sara Pennypacker Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Kahoot app (free) or access to Kahoot.com on separate device with parent permission.
