Welcome to my 4 Day Camp on "Moral Philosophy". We will cover all the essentials for understanding the basics of Moral Philosophy. Including Utilitarianism, Duty Theories, Virtue & Meta Ethics. Classes will be in a lecture style using multi-media PowerPoint slides with opportunities for questions. We will cover the following topics: 1) INTRO TO MORALS: Morals, Ethics and Meta-Ethics - the basics 2) UTILITARIANISM: Should we always act for the greater good? 3) DUTY THEORIES: Kant's Categorical Imperative - should we act according to our duties? 4) VIRTUE ETHICS: How to be a virtuous person and achieve Eudaimonia - is this the meaning of life? They will have a great grounding in the how to make and analyse rational logical arguments.

This course discusses the Trolley Problem as a cartoon illustration as a thought experiemnt for moral choices where the person has to choose whether to direct a tram to run over 1 person or 5 people. We also talk about the meaning of life and the possibility that there is no external meaning, only the meaning we give it ourselves. It is done in a light hearted very abstract manner but some more sensative students might find it distressing.
受講の前提条件
No previous experience required but please note this is not a basic class, so younger students may find it more challenging unless they are already very keen on this subject.
