Learners will learn and improve their reading/ELA skills at a second and third grade level in reading, comprehension, grammar/language arts, sight words and phonics, vocabulary, and writing.

I have been teaching in a brick and mortar school for 10 years and have been working with children for 20 years.  I have taught all grades kindergarten through sixth grade.  I can easily differentiate to reach my students on their needs since I have taught all elementary grades.

Learners will have the option to do additional practice to review the skills taught in class.

For learners that come back week to week I will send an update on how learners are doing once a month.  For learners that are only able to attend a couple times please contact me prior to class if you want a review on how your learner does in class.  I am happy to provide one if contacted prior to class.

I will be doing informal observations throughout the course and adjust as needed.  Please let me know prior to class if you would like a certificate or grade.  I am happy to provide something. 

We will be using a variety of learning strategies including hands-on, games, activities, reading and note taking so all learners are successful with the material.  

Learners should be working at a 3rd or 4th grade level for this course. 

I will be using common core curriculum to develop engaging, grade level materials, dolch sight word lists, and various books.  Each week I will post the book we will be reading prior to class if you would like for your learner to have their own copy of the book to follow along with, but this is a personal preference.  Learners are not required to have the books.
