To help us answer the questions we will go back in the passage and highlight where we found our answers. 3rd Grade SOL's 3.6 The student will continue to read and demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction texts. a) identify authors purpose d) Ask and answer questions about what is read. f) Summarize major points found in nonfiction texts. h) Identify supporting details. j)Use reading strategies to monitor comprehension throughout the reading process. l)Read with fluency and accuracy. 4th Grade SOL's 4.4 The student will expand vocabulary when reading. a) Use context to clarify meanings of unfamiliar words. 4.6 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction texts. a) Use text structures, such as type, headings, and graphics, to predict and categorize information in both print and digital texts. b) Formulate questions that might be answered in the selection. c) Explain the author’s purpose. e) Summarize supporting details. f) Draw conclusions and make simple inferences using textual information as support. h) Distinguish between fact and opinion. i) Use prior knowledge and build additional background knowledge as context for new learning. j) Identify new information gained from reading. Math - Math Facts Students will solve math facts problems Worksheet- History in the numbers (each answer to a question is an important number in history) 3rd Grade SOL's 3.4 The student will a) represent multiplication and division through 10 × 10, using a variety of approaches and models; b) create and solve single-step practical problems that involve multiplication and division through 10 x 10; and c) demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts of 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10; d) solve single-step practical problems involving multiplication of whole numbers, where one factor is 99 or less and the second factor is 5 or less. 4th Grade SOL's 4.4 The student will a) demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts through 12 x 12, and the corresponding division facts; b) estimate and determine sums, differences, and products of whole numbers; c) estimate and determine quotients of whole numbers, with and without remainders; and d) create and solve single-step and multistep practical problems involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication, and single-step practical problems involving division with whole numbers. Class Structure: After welcoming the students we will work on reading for the 1st half of the class. We will read a variety of short passages and answer questions as a group. We will discuss reading strategies, tips, and reading comprehension strategies. The 2nd half of the class we will work on math fact problems as class. These will include multiplication and division. Class interaction: Students will interact with each other and myself by answer questions and discussing information.
