In this private, one on one, writing class I will personalize my time with your learner to make sure that each lesson is cultivated especially for them. Writing is one of the subjects I am most passionate about so, it is a goal of mine that in each of my writing classes I encourage that same love for writing within my students. 

This class is open to a variety of ages because I enjoy practicing writing with learners across the board even if we are simply working on building a sentence of just a few words. Whether your learner is building on an essay already in the works, or needs help getting started I am excited to help lead the way. I can help students brainstorm, be a sounding board for ideas, provide graphic organizers for structure, edit work for proper grammar/conventions, offer suggestions as to how to incorporate dialogue, descriptive writing, organization, transitions, hooks - you name it!

Parents- please make sure to provide me with an idea of what you are hoping to obtain from class before our first meeting. Communication between us is going to be the best way to help me prepare for my time with your learner. 

Here are some examples of the types of writing I am happy to help with:
-formulating sentences
-sequence writing
-narrative, persuasive and informative essays
-creative writing
-fiction/non-fiction short stories
-editing/proofreading work and providing constructive criticism 
-poetry

Let me know if you don't see something you want to work on listed! I'd be happy to look into it and add it on. 

Please note that if you have a younger learner this class is not geared toward handwriting. Students attending this class should know the letters of their alphabet- they can still be working on sounds, as I encourage young learners to spell phonetically. My hope is that learners can read their own writing to me. I'm happy to edit work with them and provide guidance on proper spelling after our first draft is complete.

     Narrative: Tell a true story about a time you really appreciated getting help from someone. You may have been given advice, given help with a project, been loaned something you needed, or given some other kind of help you appreciated.

     Imaginative: Sometimes when people look at clouds in the sky they think they can see the shapes of animals, people, objects or other figures. Make up a story about one of these shapes coming to life.

Read and Respond-
     What message about life is the author trying to communicate to the reader? Be sure to use specific examples from the story to support your answer.

            * state the main idea or ideas of the article
            * tell the important details that support the main idea
            * use your own words when writing your summary .

Disclaimer:
If there are zero learners enrolled in a class 24 hours before the start time the class is then presumed canceled.

Cancellation policy: As an ongoing class, learner subscriptions are charged on a weekly basis. If a learner is going to miss class please stop the subscription by the Saturday before to ensure you aren't charged and allow a weeks notice. A refund will not be issued otherwise.
