In this first-grade summer camp, students will receive a full first-grade experience through Science, Math, Social Studies, English, Writing, and Reading. This class is perfect for students going into the first-grade. In this full 1st grade homeschool class, students will learn everything that's needed to be successful as a first graders. Lessons will be presented in a PowerPoint form and NearPod. We will have fun learning and practicing our motoring movement skills through singing and dancing. Students will be able to work on their social skills by interacting with their classmates. Reading and Language will cover the following: CVC words Story sequence Phonics (understanding the concepts; consonant combinations). Sight Words Vocabulary Blend consonant Sounds (vowel and consonant digraphs, and more) Read simple stories fluently and independently. Retell the main idea of a story and answer questions about the text. Identify parts of a story or book. Writing: Write from top to bottom, left to right, while using spacing between words. Correctly write 3- 4 letter words and longer words phonetically. Write simple sentences and short stories or paragraphs in chronological order. Language Arts: Use correct capitalization and punctuation. Understand and identify the parts of speech and types of sentences. Identify compound words and distinguish between proper and possessive nouns. Math: Count to 100; county by 5s and 10s to 100; count by 2s to 40 Represent numbers on a number line Add and subtract 2-digit numbers Write the date; tell time; read a calendar Count and create coin combinations; add and subtract money Identify, sort and classify 2-dimensional shapes Understanding the value of money Science: Life science (plants, animals, habitats) Classification of animals and different animal habitats Distinguishing between living and nonliving things Earth and space science (solar system and beyond) States of matter (solid, liquid, gas) Type of light energy Social Studies: National Holidays Maps Understanding Social Studies Each week, our class will follow a special theme. This will help keep students engaged and make learning more fun. *A workbook PDF will be posted in the classroom for students. This is to be used as our learning worksheets such as Handwriting, Math, Science, Social studies, Reading, and Art. *If you want to enroll more than one student, please ask about our discount prices. Please note that we do not have class on major USA holidays. Here's a weekly breakdown of our class: Week one: Reading: Main Idea: How to choose the main idea. Math: Number Bonds and Addition Science: Magnets Attraction and Repel Social Studies: Families, jobs, and money Week two: Reading: Main Idea: Identify and describe the main idea of a nonfiction book using the title and illustrations Math: Subtraction Word Problems Science: Sound Waves Social Studies: What is a map and understanding how to read the map. Week three: Reading: Identify and describe the main idea of a fiction book using the textual details Math: Decomposition Strategies for Subtraction Science: Objects that are made of one or more materials Social Studies: Maps: Creating a map of our home and neighborhood Week four: Reading: Identify and describe the main idea of a fiction book using the title Math: Development of Subtraction Fluency Within 10 Science: Scientific words to describe physical properties Social Studies: Your local neighbors and surrounds

PDF will be in the classroom Markers/crayons/color pencils Safety Scissors Hand held dry erase board (can be found at the Dollar Store or Target) Dry Erase marker Folder or Binder (binder would do better) Suggestion: It may be easier to create a daily folder for each day with the materials/worksheets already ready for your learner. You may want to also try colored coded folders for each day; example: Monday-red, Tuesday-blue, Wednesday-green and etc. I try my best each week to let you all know what we are working on each day. If you need any other tips, please let me know. I love to help all of our learners to be organized.

Hello! I am Ms. Brittany. I have 8 years of classroom teaching experience and 4.5 years of experience teaching online. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University in 2012. I also earned my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2015, also at Eastern Kentucky University. I've been married to my husband, Matt for 9 years and we have 2 boys ages 5 and 2. I love teaching! I believe children learn best using a hands on, minds on approach. I enjoy teaching a variety of ages! I like to cook, sew and craft as well. My goal is to provide fun, hands on experiences for my students. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Hello! I am Jasmine Jones and I love to have fun! A lot of my passions include playing sports, working out, coaching, training, dancing, teaching, technology, and traveling. Hello! I am Mr. Shy and I am excited to begin this virtual learning experience with your learner. I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and I received my Bachelors Degree from Grambling State University. I am currently studying for my Masters of Education. I have a passion for teaching and sharing my unique culture with my students. I believe that Project Based Learning is a perfect way to keep my students engaged in learning. When I'm not with the teaching, I spend my time coaching at the school local the fundamentals of football.
