- decoding (skills of breaking down words into letter sound(s))
- fluency rates 
- vocabulary bank  
- learning and recognizing sentence construction and cohesion (connecting ideas within and between sentences)
- before and after reading strategies to understand the text better. 
- and working memory and attention (ability to hold on to information and self-monitoring)
