Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
This is an on-going course for English leaners age 3-7 or beginner ESL. This class will be held once a week.

This is foundational reading support with all classroom instruction based on the Wonders curriculum for grade level K. Your learner will be immersed in an animated classroom with fun characters and activities as well as a live teacher each week. Classroom instruction includes music, games, videos, quizzes, activity sheets and optional homework. Your learner will meet multiple characters and will look forward to seeing them read, sing, dance and celebrate milestones and successes each week.

Example Topics:

- Identifying upper and lower case letters by drawing a line
   to correctly match
- tracing out letters of the alphabet
- Phonological awareness skill building: tapping out letter sounds
- Identifying onsets and rhymes
- Phonemic awareness skills, i.e., place a square on each picture if it's name
    begins with the /m/ sound
- Blending individual sounds to make a word
- Stretching out a word into its individual sounds
- naming the first (or last, or middle) sound in a word
- Reading high frequency words, " I paint, I read, I run"
- Category words: (Names) Placing a circle around pictures where
    learner sees a name
- partner reading short stories
- Responding to interactive read aloud stories, i.e., describe what the
children are doing in each box
- Responding to story comprehension questions

In our first moments of class, I will use ice breaker activities and games to establish trust and communicate that our time will be spent both learning and having fun. I will be actively assessing individual strengths and the specific areas where I can provide more support. My teaching style is patient, positive and encouraging. I let students know that they demonstrate leadership by coming to class ready to learn, being respectful and kind ( as my communication will always be with them) , asking questions when they do not understand and always trying to do their best. I use short brain breaks to help students stay engaged. Breaks can include movement activities, music, games or sticker boards that learners can come back to each week and gradually fill with their favorite animals, interests and/or characters.

No extra materials, books or logging into additional sites will be needed . All classroom materials will be screen shared during class. Activity sheets will be shared with parents prior to each class.

This is a private 1:1 reading course that allows learners to engage, express themselves, ask questions and interact with a live teacher. All instruction will progress at a pace that is learner driven. This allows for customized learning support when and where needed.

My goal is to make each class an engaging, safe space for learners at all levels. I look forward to seeing you in class!
