In this class, students will be given a brief overview of how to put letter sounds together to read words. Then they will practice reading words to help a cartoon astronaut cross the galaxy. This class serves two purposes. It is meant to bridge the gap between knowing letter names and sounds and putting them together to read words. It is also meant to help students practice for beginning or end of year kindergarten testing where they will be asked to read as many CVC words as quickly as they can.
I have been working in kindergarten classrooms as a reading aide and instructional assistant for 3 years. I was in charge of assessing children and administered the DIBELS test 3 times a year.
