Advanced レベル向け
The experience: 1. A welcome email will deliver a skill survey and meeting goals questionnaire. Participants are asked to return to the instructor prior to the start of their meeting. 2. During the meeting, the instructor will review and confirm with the learner the topics to be covered which will set the meeting plan. 3. Learners will have individualized conversation, attention, the freedom to inquire and ask questions to support the breakdown, analysis, restatement, and curiosity of advanced scientific conceptual study. 4. Supporting materials such as on screen drawing, whiteboards, and manipulatives are some of the options that will be used in demonstration. 5. Learners will be delivered a post-script of the extending questions and suggested activities for further exploration Though sessions are specifically tailored to the learner and their questions, topics typically covered include or are related to: 1. CARBON-BASED MOLECULES: Understanding the unique properties of carbon that allow for the formation of complex organic molecules with diverse structures. 2. FUNCTIONAL GROUPS: Identifying and analyzing common functional groups like alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines, and ethers, and how they influence chemical reactivity. 3. ISOMERS: Recognizing and explaining different structural arrangements of molecules with the same molecular formula (isomers). 4. NAMING ORGANIC COMPOUNDS: Applying systematic nomenclature rules to name organic compounds based on their structure. 5. CHEMICAL REACTIONS of ORGANIC MOLECULES: Studying typical organic reactions like addition, substitution, condensation, and oxidation-reduction reactions. 6. INTEGRATION WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES: (including but not limited to) mathematics, engineering, biology, biochemistry, environmental science, food science, medical science. Learners will seek an interdisciplinary conversation to bring concept to real-world applications. 7. MODELING AND VISUALIZATION: Utilize molecular models and diagrams to effectively represent the three-dimensional structures of organic molecules and their interactions. 8. LABORATORY EXPERIENCES: No hands-on experiments are delivered in this course. This conversation is offered to help with the conceptualization and ideation of practical skill development. Please discuss with the instructor so limitations and capabilities are clearly understood. HS-LS1-2: Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms. HS-LS1-6: Construct and revise an explanation based on evidence for how carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from sugar molecules may combine with other elements to form amino acids and/or other large carbon-based molecules. HS-LS1-7: Analyze the role of each type of molecule (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids) in the structure and function of living organisms.

Dr. Michael Blanchard completed his PhD at the University of Tennessee. He spent his time discussing the use of Lewis acids, Ziegler-Natta catalysis, and working to scale processes for efficiency. Before his PHD, Dr. Mike studied forensic sciences. There, his passion for the interdisciplinary work of chemistry began. From cooking to building to living in the world around us, Dr. Mike's passion is sharing how we are all connected to the study of chemistry. It was the development of the specific fields of chemistry that awarded him Adjunct Professor at Warren National University. He quickly discovered that his passion for sharing and connecting knowledge was the point which learners' owned a solid conceptual foundation and were at the crossroads of deeper diving topics, such as organic chemistry and beyond.
