In this class we will begin with a "Guessing Game"; students will bring one or two things to class that start with one of our blends "spl, spr, squ, str, and thr". Students should have clues to prepared to help their classmates guess what they brought to class. In this class we will learn to spell and identify the sound they hear in the words. We will add short and long vowel sounds and then work to spell some words with these sounds. In this class I will do some teaching lecture style; students will have opportunity to answer questions as a group and as individuals. They will also have opportunity to interact with their classmates. We will play games to try to give extra practice with these new letters.

Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
