What's included

Group experience

Welcome to The Gaming Lounge, a place for gamers all over the world to meet others who also enjoy gaming! This group is the perfect place for learners to meet like-minded individuals who want to talk about their favourite games! Learners are also welcome to share their current scores, any new game releases, questions about their games and give suggestions. This group can open learners up to new game titles, and genres they might not have heard of before and meet new folks to play co-op games with. All genres and consoles are welcome.

What we can expect in The Gaming Lounge:
 - Letticia, the moderator of the group will oversee all group discussions and help moderate interactions so they stay on topic and remain repectful to other members of the group. All topics related to gaming are allowed in this space.
- Letticia will post a weekly check-in for learners to share anything they've played that week, and any progress they've made on games they are playing. Any new releases or title announcements the moderator comes across will be posted and learners are encouraged to share any information they may have as well. This will allow learners to share resources, share sales, trailers, and celebrate successes in their current playthroughs.

Please feel free to reach out if there's a thread you would like to be created! I always respond to all posts, but I usually wait a little bit so other learners can get their responds in first.

Example posts include:
- New game releases
- Game successes
- Featured Games/Genres (eg. Simulation games, co-op, platformer)
- Call for recommendations
- Sharing gaming memes
- Sharing Original Characters (OCs), fan art and cosplays
Learning Goals
- Social skills: Students can create friendships with others who "get" them and have opportunities throughout the class to let their voices be heard.
- Exposure to diversity: The class also consists of conversations of people with different backgrounds, which will influence how they see films.
- Critical thinking skills: Students will be asked to think about certain scenes of the game with a critical eye.

Guidelines
Welcome to The Gaming Lounge! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included. Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs. Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private. Please also do not share links, anything you want to share must be uploaded to the group. Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated. Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered. Remember that something you might not like, might be someone else's favourite. Please keep them in mind in our discussion.

I'm an avid gamer, having played many genres of games throughout my life. I believe that video games is a fantastic way to make friends and learn new skills.

I'm currently run social groups on Outschool, including a few clubs for video games and am able to help faciliate and moderate the conversation. I have also worked as an educator for 5 years.
