Using that animal as our inspiration, we'll decide what our dragon tribe eats, which will help us break down how it hunts, where it sleeps, and of course, what it looks like. We'll then decide if our dragon tribe has any special skills or abilities, and if we've got time, think on the tribe's history and culture. The teacher writes down the details on the whiteboard and and guides the discussion as learners combine storytelling skills with knowledge of the natural world, creating a dragon that feels both realistic and fantastical-- just like the tribes in the Wings of Fire series! This is a fun, social class that encourages teamwork and discussion while also increasing our knowledge of storytelling, biology, and writing. There is not officially an art component of this class, but students are encouraged and welcome to draw along as we create the tribe! They're also invited to share their work at the end.
Learning Goals
Students will work together to create a new Wings of Fire style dragon tribe.
Students will consider storytelling and world-building strategies as they create a history and culture for their tribe.

Parental Guidance
Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class!
-For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging and social experience, students are required to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class, positioned such that we can both hear and see them.
-Students are asked not to use filters or virtual backgrounds-- though if there is an important reason to use a virtual background, please just let me know ahead of time that your student will be using one (no questions asked!).
-Students will be asked to introduce themselves by sharing their name, pronoun, and a favorite book.
-The Zoom text chat is set to "host only", meaning students can chat with me, but not to one another or the entire classroom.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
