Nivel Beginner
This is an ongoing Veterinary Emergency class that covers various emergency scenarios that can happen to animals.  The ongoing 30 lessons will run from September to January. Stay for the duration or jump in at any time. We will learn through scientific observation, art, videos, writing, listening, and discussions. The teacher will provide optional weekly extension activities and extra practice resources including virtual field trips, art activities, sketching, and worksheets.
*Please note the dates. We will take off for certain holidays.

Day 1 Fractured
Students will look at a dog's X-rays.
Students will learn what bones are made of. 
Students will get to color the bones of a dog.

Day 2 A Headache That Won't Quit
Students will observe a real cat skull up close.
Students will learn the anatomy of the cat's skull.

Day 3 An Alligator with a Taste for Hot Dogs
Students will learn what makes an animal a reptile.
Students will learn about reptile care.

Day 4 A Moneymaking Iguana
Students will learn about reptile care. 
Students will learn why people keep iguanas as pets.

Day 5 A Troublesome Tumor
Students will learn what a tumor is.
Students will learn what it takes to be a zoo vet.

The goal is for students to learn what is required to be a veterinarian and want to pursue that career. Knowing what is involved in emergency cases can help them think through situations they may have to encounter with their own pets.

Please note that there are scenes where the vet is performing surgery. For ex. removal of a leg, preserved skeletons of a cat and rat skull.

Students will need drawing pencils and a pad for various sketches. A supply of ink and paper to print off worksheets that will help them learn the parts of the animals we will be studying.
