What's included

2 live meetings
1 in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. I always try to provide enough OPTIONAL supplemental material for the families who want to stretch my class to all five days. All material is optional as well. Each week I provide over a dozen worksheets for your learner. You can do them after class or the next day, or one a day for the entire week. You can also use the tracing one in class when while we practice our writing. Each week I also post a link that takes you to the virtual calendar that we use in class. This allows your child to practice the days of the week everyday at anytime. You will also receive virtual classrooms for the letters and number of the week. All the material is provided to reinforce what we learned in class. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions. -Mrs. Taylor
Assessment
Families can request a digital assessment to be completed at home through a series of slides to highlight what each student does and does not know yet. It's easy and FUN!

The first 7 minutes of class will be warmup/circle time: Class will begin with greetings and a warm up song and dance to get our sillies out. From there we will hop into calendar time to sing and chant the season, month, day of the week and what day comes before and after (“yesterday, today and tomorrow”).

The next 13-18 mins will focus on our letters, numbers and sight words. Each week we will focus on a new letter, number, and sight word. We will then divide our focuses between the two days to better enhance each students experience. With Monday/Tuesdays focusing on letters (identification/sound), sight words, and writing, and Wednesday/Thursdays focusing on numbers. We will then spend our remaining time focusing on other fundamental principals.

The remaining 5-7 mins will focus on a fun cognitive development game. Typically a mystery photo where children will practice taking turns telling me what it is. I think it is so important for students to practice raising their hands and taking turns, using their words and vocabulary. We will then end class with a story. Students are also encouraged to read on Epic for FREE with my class code.

This class content was built so that new students to hop in at any time. In addition, the classes are identical, just held on different days and times. With M/W and Tu/Th being a complete course for the week. Being a parent, I understand life gets crazy, so I have done this to allow parents the flexibility to switch to a different day or time and the student will not have missed anything.

I have created this class to be extremely engaging in hopes to get the most output from each student. At such a young age I understand how hard it can be for little ones to sit still. Through asking questions, playing games, and google slides I make sure each student has an opportunity to answer and participate. I add 1 minute engaging, informational songs that mirror the lesson plan to pull students focus back in and have a chance to learn while singing and listening to a fun beat. After class is over students can say goodbye OR stay for a few minutes to share, whether it's a toy, information, or something they are going to do that day. I do this to allow students an opportunity to engage with their peers, and feel special without taking away from class time.

After class students can visit the classroom where new material is posted each week. I provide worksheets, digital assignments, virtual classrooms filled with material, games and videos, and more (all optional).

If you have any questions or suggestions please reach out! I am eager to see you in class!

Parental Guidance
Parents are encouraged to help students with the first class, if this is their first experience in an online class. Many students pick up on the routine within a week or two.
Supply List
Materials are optional for this class. We briefly will practice our writing so students can use pencils, crayons, notebook, construction paper, a small white board (can be found at dollar tree), dry erase marker and eraser (dry eraser, tool, sock, etc.). Really anything to write with. When students are in the car they may use their finger to draw in the air. I prefer to keep writing practice to a minimum in class so students do not get bored. I prefer to spend our time learning through various engaging activities. Each week I post several PDF documents that can be printed out for students to work on to reinforce what is learned in class. If you do not want to print them out, I also post several digital activities as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Mrs. Taylor and I'm thrilled to have you here! I have had a passion for teaching since I was six and it has only grown from there. I originally went to college to pursue teaching in a traditional classroom setting, but after having a family I made the switch to online. I have enjoyed being an online educator for the last 7 years. It has allowed me the flexibility to do what I love (teach!), while being there for my children.

I am passionate about many subjects, but I have always loved early childhood education. I believe in school readiness and that if a child feels prepared, then they will feel confident and love to learn. I have seen first hand with my students, my children and through volunteer work how important it is to know the fundamentals when starting school.

Teaching is all I have ever wanted to do, and I have so much appreciation to have found another platform to pursue my passion. I hope to see you in my classroom! -Mrs. Taylor
