includedClass Experience
US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this class, students will transform an idea into a goal with a plan of action. They will apply the S.M.A.R.T. goal writing process to clearly define a goal that is (1) specific, (2) measurable, (3) achievable, (4) realistic, and (5) time-bound. They will set short- and long-term targets that will help them reach their goals. Teens often feel anxious or frustrated when they think about goals because: • They don’t know how to define a goal. • They don’t have a plan to pursue a goal. • They have a goal, but don’t believe they have the resources to reach it. • They have a goal, but don’t believe they have time to reach it. • They have a goal, but lack confidence to pursue their goal. Students will discover mistakes and set-backs are opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills as they pursue their goals. This process helps students confidently prepare to set future goals. SMART goals in writing are dreams with deadlines. No prior knowledge is needed.
