Students ages 6-10 will have a blast learning beginner vocabulary in Spanish! As an ongoing class, meeting one time per week, concepts will be taught through repetition, practice conversations, interactive slides, video clips, games, and hands on activities. Each student will be able to repeat vocabulary covered to ensure proper pronunciation and understanding.

Each class will introduce a new basic topic in Spanish and can be a stand alone class. Learners may come and go as their schedule allows, as long as there are available spaces upon enrollment. Classes will cycle every 10 weeks, so feel free to join at any time! This class is Part 2 of a 3 part series (classes in this series can be taken in any order). Printables and resources will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week. No prior Spanish knowledge is necessary.

Give your child the foundation necessary to be a successful second language learner ¡Aprendamos juntos! Let's learn together!

Classes follow the following format:

✏️ Pregunta del día (Question of the Day): 5-10 minute icebreaker to get students listening and responding in simple Spanish, all while getting to know one another.
✏️ Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction: 15-20 minute topical lesson, presented through interactive slides and fun visuals.
✏️ Game or Hands-on Activity: 15-20 minute game, worksheet, or activity to reinforce and apply newly learned concepts in a collaborative, positive environment.

This week we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to community helpers (professions and careers, such as firefighter, teacher, doctor, farmer, builder, etc) in Spanish. Learners will team up to play the game, "Who Am I?" and wrap up class with a "When I Grow Up" drawing and writing activity!

Week 5: (September 16-20) Around the House 🏡
This week's lesson will center on rooms and objects around the house (bathroom, kitchen, living room, table, door, window, etc) in Spanish, as well as the phrase, "Dónde ésta ...?" ("Where is...?"). We will learn through interactive slides, as well as a "Create Your Own House" worksheet.

Week 7: (September 30-October 4) Animals 🦁
This week we will learn the names of various animals (lion, bear, zebra, elephant, shark, whale, cat, dog, fish, horse, pig, cow, etc.) in Spanish through a "Pass the Ball" activity, sorting animals by habitat (farm animals, household pets, ocean life, wild animals), and true/false game with interactive slides.
