Welcome to Roblox: Designing Obbys and Adventures, a program designed for students in grades 4-10 who are interested in learning how to create their own game levels using Roblox. In this program, participants will learn how to produce their own immersive experiences, obbys, and platformer-style games, limited only by their imagination. Our student-centered learning approach focuses on collaborative projects to engage learners and develop their creativity and problem-solving skills. The program is structured into 6 - 55 Minute long class meetings, held once a week for 6 weeks. During this time, students will have plenty of opportunities to interact with each other and their instructor. Throughout the program, students will learn how to build 3D adventures, races, and obstacle courses, and create interactive gaming environments. They will also learn how to use the Roblox game design tools, create puzzles and adventure maps, and test and provide feedback for game development. In addition, they will learn how to build improved versions of maps based on game-tester feedback. Our program's objectives are to teach participants how to: Build interactive game maps and obbys using Roblox Studio Understand how to build multiple game experiences with at least two game genres Create immersive and interactive gaming environments Create several puzzles and adventure maps Use the Roblox game design tools Test and provide feedback for game development Build improved versions of maps based on game-tester feedback Week 1: students will learn how to use Roblox Studio's editor and test out different genres. Week 2: Students will Try out various obbys for ideas and practices. Starting building our first project, working with Parts to create your very own obby course. Week 3: students will create a starting area, add our spawn pad. Week 4: students will Examining vehicles, how to edit parts and create their own racing game. Week 5: students will continue working with Roblox Studio and create more projects. Socializing with other students in the club and learning how to work collaboratively Week 6 :students will finish up their large project and test other students games and give constructive feedback. Our teaching style is interactive and hands-on, with a focus on project-based learning. Students will work on collaborative projects throughout the program, giving them the opportunity to learn from each other and develop their teamwork skills. No prior experience is necessary to join our program. Our instructor will guide students through the learning process, providing support and feedback every step of the way. Overall, Roblox: Designing Obbys and Adventures is a fun and engaging way for kids to learn about game design and develop their creativity and problem-solving skills. Parental Guidance
We are using Roblox and Roblox Studio. You will need to create a free Roblox account in order to participate. We are using Roblox Studio as a game design tool and we are also using this to teach coding.
