I just love guinea pigs, don't you?! They are cute and cuddly and generally like being around their favorite human (that's you)! Remember, guinea pigs are prey animals and they are afraid of some things but carrying them in a pouch, and giving them your calm energy, is a great way to bond with them and help them feel safe. Carrying your guinea pig in a carrier pouch gives them a chance to become more familiar with your voice and scent while staying safe and cozy inside their warm, fleece carrier. In this class we will learn fun and helpful facts about animals as we craft our own no-sew, reusable carriers. You will need the following materials: - fleece measuring 38" X 20" (IMPORTANT!!! A medium to heavy weight fleece works best for this project. If the fleece is too thin it will become overly stretchy quickly). - fleece measuring 32" X 2" for the strap - scissors - ruler or measuring tape - marker - some of your pet's favorite snacks to use as positive reinforcement (think parsley or cucumber)! Of course, we'll want to meet your guinea pig(s) too!! LEARNING GOALS: - students will follow step by step instructions and create a carrier pouch - students will practice their measuring skills - students will learn about the power of positive reinforcement (ex: food) - students will learn about different animal diets - students will express their creativity when choosing their fabric *SOME STUDENTS WILL NEED HELP AND SUPERVISION WITH THIS PROJECT * IF YOUR CHILD IS OUTSIDE THE AGE LIMITS FOR THIS CLASS PLEASE MESSAGE ME AND WE CAN DISCUSS!
